Lots of movie and TV shoots in Montréal right now–this past week one production has been camped out at a nightclub around the corner from our apartment, and I came across this scene in Dorchester Square yesterday on my bike ride.
Here are two actors walking towards the camera set-up, except they’re walking on elevated runways–don’t know why, maybe for perspective, or the ground is too reflective, or ? Maybe one of my production friends can solve the mystery. Movie magic!
Note the actor on the right has a dog on a leash off-platform, and the wrangler bending over to keep the dog happy until action is called.
I didn’t ask for info on the show because most likely my French comprehension wouldn’t be good enough to understand the answer. That said, a number of U.S. productions film in Canada due to industry tax incentives and the favorable exchange rate, so it might have been a show I’ve heard of.
Even though Dorchester Square is in a very traveled part of the city and a major stopping-off point for tourist buses, no one seemed very interested (except me). Business as usual around here. Maybe people were too busy examining the manhole covers.
