The word “clown” is the same in English and in French. I had need to look it up because, well….look at the world we live in.

P.S. You can also say “farceur” or “pitre” instead of “clown,” but the preferred word in French is “clown” nonetheless.

There was even a news article the day after I wrote this post, talking about the local police wearing “pantalons de clown” — clown pants — as part of a protest. Sometimes it’s easy to be bilingual!
There’s no way it’s pronounced the same way, though, right??
Google Translate says it sort of like “clone” but add some French contempt (as I often say, there is no contempt like French contempt) and the meaning will be absolument clair.
