In response to my Crabapple evolution post, one person commented to me that “[T]he trees are ugly 51 weeks out of the year. They’re only pretty during the one week that they bloom. And they drop messy crab apples everywhere.”
I’m here to report that four days after its dazzling performance, the crabapple tree across the street is almost flowerless. Whether it will produce and drop fruit remains to be seen.

That being said, last week, the trees were all in bloom at the George-Étienne Cartier memorial, and it was glorious!
