Resuming (and trees)

We’re getting settled in, which involves getting oriented in a newish-to-us neighborhood . We’re in Rosemont again, but about 2.5km/1.5miles from where we were last time. We’ve found a good old-school pizza and poutine joint, the closest bike share point, some nice parks, and the bus stop.

Getting settled in also involves taking a bus to the van rental place, renting a van, going to the storage facility, finding our space in the multistory storage labyrinth, remembering that in a frenzy last October Sylvain had swapped out the cheap combo lock on the storage space for a more robust keyed lock … and then remembering that the key to that lock was back in the apartment. This process was followed in equal parts by being exasperated that the key was a short drive away and joy that it wasn’t in some box of knick-knacks back in California.

Ahem.

Anyway, the mission was successful and we now have boxes of stuff back in the apartment and are gradually figuring out the arrangement for the next months.

The van rental was in the nearby arrondissement of Saint-Léonard. While walking from the bus to the place, we saw signs designating places for future trees. Tree planting is always a happy and optimistic thing to see.

That said, the trees of the area are quite notable right now!

Many are still bare. Others are just putting out leaves. Some are covered in flowers. Still others are covered in new spring leaves so bright green that they match the fluorescent traffic warning signs!
