Canada is constitutionally a bilingual nation, and there are laws to protect that status. For example, all prepackaged food products sold in Canada must be properly labeled in both official languages. There are a few minor exceptions, for example the business name and location of the preparers may be in a single language, and under limited conditions “the common name of certain alcoholic beverages” may be in a single language.
So, today I was pleased to learn that the French translation of the Ancient and Traditional English word “salsa” is “salsa” (and the translation of “ranch” is “ranch”). 🤷🏽♂️
