Things are busy. Manon and I are both taking six hours of French classes per week, along with homework and the usual quotidian grind.
Summer is a glorious but brief season, so Montréalers are anxious to be out and about when the weather’s good. This year, between smoke and storms and heat warnings, there haven’t been as many good days for people to be out there.
But on a pleasant Saturday, there are lines for brunch at the fashionable places on Avenue Mont Royal.

And there’s even a wait just to take away a sac de bagels.

In other parts of town, the crowds aren’t necessarily local. The Just For Laughs festival is the largest comedy festival in the world — and that’s quite evident if you try to cross the Quartier des Spectacles during the festival’s final days.

Le métro’s pretty packed too, most of the time.

Lastly, there are crowds of cone flowers thronging the sidewalk planters, the street medians, and the beds of le Jardin Botanique.
