Nous sommes de retour

When we first decided to embark on this adventure, it seemed like half a year was a long time to spend in a place. But how quickly the winter just flew by!

It simultaneously seems like ages since we were last here and that no time has passed at all. Each city acquires a dreamlike sense when we’re in the other, as if that time was not quite real.

Adding to the surreal aspect is the seasonal shift. With our north/south migrations, we get to experience the best two seasons (Spring and Autumn) twice apiece.

Spring was well underway when we left Los Angeles; already this year, the daffodils had come and gone in the garden, as had most of the wisteria. The sweet peas and roses were in full bloom, and bees were buzzing and the butterflies fluttering.

We’ve arrived to just the bare beginnings of Spring in Montreal, with trees just starting to leaf out. It’s gray out, with light rain, and pleasantly cold.

Stay tuned to see what happens as time hurtles by.
