More Tree Installation

Remember way back in May, when we encountered the “trees to be planted here” signs up in Saint-Léonard? No? You know, this here?

Well, anyway, we were back up in that area yesterday, and, sure enough, some trees have been planted. It looks like they put in gingkoes and maples.

Lousy picture; different angle, same place.

It seems like this year’s postings have been very tree-heavy.

These trees were planted in a relatively bare part of town. It’s not far from the intersection of two busy streets, and the grassy area there is between one of those streets and a parking lot for a mini-mall. Beyond the mini-mall is a very busy highway, lined with industrial supply warehouses, truck repair facilities, and fast-food chain restaurants. Almost visible in this picture is the open right-of-way just down the street where enormous pylons support dozens of high-voltage lines. It’s far from the most beautiful part of town.

But consider the city that plants a lot of trees. They plant not just in the beautiful areas, but in the less beautiful areas. What will it look like in ten years? Twenty?
