Nobody warned us!!!
In Wisconsin, where I grew up, we called those flyers helicopters. If you take the seed out, that part of the pod is just sticky enough to stick to the bridge of your nose… which is what we did as kids and I think you should, too. I wonder if Canadian kids ever do that?

The French also call them “hélicoptères” but cannot confirm the nose bit.
